This is a bundle of 4 books that are full of activities and games for young children in an outdoors setting.  The activities are most suitable for children in Foundation Stage and KS1, but they can also be used with older children and adults as well.

  • The Woodland Activity book by Adam Dove offers 10 ‘recipes’ for Woodland adventures, each structured around a story which is designed to capture the imagination of 2-6 year olds. Each recipe provides parents and carers with a list of the kit required (generally, simple household objects) and a set of step by step instructions.
  • 100 Ideas for Early Years Practitioners by Julie Mountain – Children benefit hugely from regular, frequent and progressive outdoor play, and it should therefore be an integral part of their early education. This book provides early years practitioners easy-to-implement outdoor play activities and practical advice on managing and evaluating your provision.
  • Nature's Playground by Fiona Danks and Jo Schofield – Full of games, crafts and adventures that encourage children to get into the great outdoors.
  • 1 2 3…Where are You by Karen Norton and Jane Gulliver.  123 …where are you? is a children's storybook based in a forest.  123 …where are you? is a game often played in Forest School sessions. It was devised as an orientation and safety game so if children got lost or couldn't see each other, they could call 123 …where are you? until they were reunited.
