Description

These tarpaulins are lightweight and fairly robust and can easily be packed into a bag or rucksack.  It is an 8 x 8 weave 80 gsm tarpaulin.

* Small = 1.8 x 2.4m - small den and sit mat size

* Medium = 2.7 x 3.4m - good size for den building

* X Large = 3.4 x 5.4m – our recommendation for leaders.  This tarpaulin is big enough to achieve most aims for building dens or shelters but still small and light enough to pack away in a ruck sack.

Lightweight tarpaulins can fail around the eyelets.

If this happens, then you can tie a knot in each of the corners of the tarpaulin and then tie string or thin rope around the top of the knot.

Another solution has been suggested by Stephen Bly at Aberdeen City Council- "We have been strengthening the eyelets with a closed clove hitch around a small twig...run the twine through the eyelet so the twig acts as a cross bar over the hole".
