As responsible leaders taking groups into any outdoor situation it is necessary to ensure all the correct equipment to hand. It can often take a long time to source the items you require for a useful safety bag. Muddy Faces has done all the hard work for you by creating a complete safety bag for use with groups in the outdoors. Much of this kit you will hopefully never have to use but in the case of an emergency such as an accident or poor weather conditions you have the kit you need to hand.
The complete safety bag contains:
First Aid kit – To deal with first aid emergency situations. (see detailed description in the first aid section of our website)
Welfare kit – For hygienic clean up and to deal with minor incidents and accidents without depleting the first aid kit. (see detailed description in the first aid section of our website)
Whistle –To summon a group back to your location in case of an emergency or to help emergency services to locate your group in a woodland or low visibility situation. To use as an emergency signal.
Emergency blanket and survival bag – To help maintain body temperatures and protect from the weather in an emergency situation.
Lightweight tarpaulin and 2 x 10m poly ropes – Used to put up an emergency shelter to protect the group and injured parties from bad weather. It is also useful for making an emergency stretcher to move a casualty to safety or to an emergency services pick up point.
Light stick and torch - To assist with emergency evacuations in low lights. Especially useful for the winter months when the darkness can descend very quickly if you are delayed due to an emergency.
Large dry bag - To protect the contents of the safety bag from damage from water with space for spare clothing and other items you may wish to add to your safety bag such as a mobile phone or a medical consent file.
Rucksack – High quality, comfortable easily identifiable rucksack to store all the items in with room for leaders personal day kit. It is recommended that this rucksack is accessible for group at all times and be stored at a well-known location when not being worn.
